Our mission is to promote the game of golf to youth on Catalina Island and support the cost of their participation in the game. The game of golf is not just an activity. The nature of the game builds integrity, honesty, character and social skills. It provides an opportunity to compete in sport, and many opportunities to meet people who may prove to be influential with a young person’s life. Beyond the game of golf, we are providing acedemic scholarships to Avalon High School Golf Team members who have demonstrated excellence inside and outside of the classroom.
Each year we host a Junior Golf Tournament. It brings many families to the island to enjoy the tournament and all that the island has to offer. It also provided a unique opportunity for local youth golfers to play in a tournament. 100% of proceeds raised through player registration fees and charitable donations goes to support Avalon youth golfers.
How our funds are spent now and in the future:
Sponsorship of Avalon junior players in the annual tournament in April
Golf balls, golf clubs, golf bags, range finders, and apparel for players
Assistance with the cost of participating in tournaments on the mainland
Academic scholarships for continuing education beyond high school. Our first ever scholarship was awarded this year.
